S2c Robert Wesley Haines
Robert Wesley Haines was born Feb. 28, 1924 in Colorado. His mother, Anna Neill Haines, was a homemaker and his father, Fred Sr., a streetcar motorman.
The Haines had three other children, including a son who was 15 when he was killed in a car crash in 1929.
The 1930 Census said the family lived in Englewood, just south of Denver.
Robert was 16 when his father died.
He enlisted in the Navy on March 20, 1941, and was a seaman second class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941. There is a cenotaph in his memory at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
