S1c William Jr. Knubel

William Knubel Jr. came to the United States from Switzerland when he was two.

His parents, Martha and Wilhelm, owned a Swiss Alpen cheese factory in Knobtown southeast of Kansas City, Missouri.

The son, born April 22, 1919, enlisted in the Navy in November 1940.

He was a seaman first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.

He was survived by his parents and three sisters.
