S1c Fred Joseph Krause
Fred Joseph Krause was born Sept. 1, 1920 at Le Sueur in southern Minnesota. His mother, Mary Morgenthaler Krause, was a homemaker and his father, Ernest Krause, an engineer for a stationary railroad.
Fred, the 6th of eight children, enlisted in the Navy on Nov. 14, 1939. He was a seaman first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
His brothers, John and Robert, served in the Army during World War II.
