RM2c Arland Earl Price

Arland Earl Price was born Jan. 27, 1918 in Tillamook County along the Pacific in northwest  Oregon. His mother, Martha Earl Price, was a homemaker and his father, Thomas Price, a farmer.

The son graduated from Tillamook High School and attended Oregon State College (now university), where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi. He would have graduated in 1940, but instead enlisted in the Navy on Aug. 16, 1938.

He went aboard the U.S.S. Arizona in July 1939 and was a radioman and petty officer second class when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.

His father had died a year earlier at age 51.
