F3c Alfred Parker Staudt

Alfred Parker Staudt was born May 23, 1920 in the booming mining town of Miami in central Arizona.

His father, Alfred John Staudt, was a copper mill operator and his mother, Ila Brakefield Staudt, was a homemaker.

By 1930 the family had moved to Fresno, California. The father, an infantry veteran of World War I, died there in November 1938.

The 1940 Census said the son had completed one year of high school and worked 12 weeks as a plumber’s assistant for the city in 1939, earning $150 – the equivalent of about $2,900 in 2022 dollars.

He enlisted in the Navy in July 1940 and was a fireman third class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
