CM2c Charles Titus Anderson

Charles Titus Anderson was born on March 23, 1921, in Evansville, Indiana, to Charles S. Anderson, a steel worker, and Coraetta Trent Anderson, a homemaker.

By 1930, the family had moved to San Jacinto in Riverside County, California. The 1940 Census showed the family living in nearby Elsinore. Mr. Anderson finished high school before enlisting in the Navy on Oct. 10, 1939.

Charles enlisted in the US Navy on October 10, 1939 in Los Angeles, California and completed his basic training at the San Diego Naval Training Station.  He boarded the U.S.S. Arizona for duty on December 20, 1939.  He was a carpenter’s mate and petty officer second class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
