S1c Paul Hyatt Bridges

Paul Hyatt Bridges was born on August 30, 1922 in Paragould, Arkansas. His mother, Cora Bridges Bridges, was a homemaker and his father, Robert Earnest Bridges, a farmer. The family also included four daughters.
 

Paul completed 10th grade at the high school in Paragould when he applied to the Navy in August 1940.

He enlisted on Oct. 4, 1940, and went aboard the U.S.S. Arizona on Dec. 4. He was a seaman first class when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.
