S1c Daniel Edward Lisenby

Daniel Edward Lisenby was born March 30, 1921 in Houston County in the southeast corner of Alabama. His mother, Cassie Murphy Lisenby, was a homemaker and his father, Daniel Smitson Lisenby, a farmer.

Daniel was the oldest of four children. He enlisted in the Navy on Dec. 12, 1939.

Mr. Lisenby was a seaman first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.

Both of his brothers served in the Navy during World War II — Herbert, as a cook, and Horace, as a pharmacist’s mate.
