F2c Frank Hendricksen
Frank Hendricksen was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. His mother, Minnie Meulekamp Hendricksen, was a homemaker and his father, Gerrit Hendricksen, a building contractor. The parents immigrated from the Netherlands.
The son attended Central High School but apparently left after his sophomore year. The spring 1940 Census said he worked 12 weeks in 1939 as a shipping clerk at a plating business and earned $200. He enlisted in the Navy on Oct. 8, 1940.
Mr. Hendricksen was a fireman second class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
