F1c James Clifton White
James Clifton White Jr. was born June 1, 1921 in Garland, Texas 12 miles northeast of Dallas to James Clifton White Sr., a salesman, and Winnie McCallum White, a telephone operator.
By 1930 the family had moved to Dallas. The son, known as J.C., attended Technical High School in Dallas and enlisted in the Navy on Nov. 14, 1938. He trained in San Diego before being assigned to the U.S.S. Arizona.
He was a fireman first class on the Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
