F1c James Thomas Hasl

James Thomas Hasl was born April 14, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska to James Hasl Jr., a railroad engineer, and Mary Lynch Hasl, a homemaker.

The son graduated from North High School in 1937 and was a member of the National Guard before enlisting in the Navy on Dec. 2, 1937.

He was a fireman first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941. 

He played right field on the battleship’s baseball team.
