F1c Lawrence Moore Gray
Lawrence Moore Gray was a “serious, quiet, polite young student” at Wheeling High in Wheeling, Missouri, a former teacher, Mabel Inman, recalled.
He graduated in 1939 and enlisted in the Navy the next January. He was a fireman first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
Mr. Gray was born June 29, 1921 to Edward E. Gray, a carpenter, and Bessie Moore Gray, a homemaker.
