Em3c Paul Eugene Daugherty

Paul Eugene Daugherty was born Aug. 7, 1918 in Congo in central Ohio, to Lawrence Daugherty, a railroad worker, and Lillian Edwards Daugherty, a homemaker.

He graduated from Saint Wendelin High School in Fostoria, Ohio south of Toledo in 1936. He participated in many activities, including drama, the glee club, baseball, basketball, and football.

He enlisted in the Navy on Jan. 23, 1940, and was an electrician’s mate and petty officer third class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.

Lake Daugherty, a reservoir in Fostoria, is named in Mr. Daugherty’s memory.
