FC3c Ralph "B" La Mar
Ralph B. La Mar was born Nov. 29, 1920 in Iowa. Sometime between 1925 and 1930 his family moved to Compton, California. His mother, Jennie Reed La Mar, was a homemaker, and his father, Floy or Floyd La Mar, a milk truck driver.
Young Mr. La Mar enlisted in the Navy on Jan. 11, 1939. He was a fire controlman and petty officer third class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
Mr. La Mar was survived by his parents and a younger sister.
His father was an Army veteran of World War I.
