S1c Robert Lang Mims
Robert Lang Mims was born Nov. 2, 1921 in Baker County in southwest Georgia. His father, J. R. Mims, was a farmer, and his mother, Beatrice Mims, a homemaker.
The father died the day before Robert’s 10th birthday.
Robert enlisted in the Navy on Nov. 28, 1939. Mr. Mims was a seaman first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
There is a cenotaph in his memory at nearby Colquitt City Cemetery. His father is buried there.
