S2c Thomas Donald Marshall
Thomas Donald Marshall was born Jan. 20, 1924 at San Francisco. His mother, Carrie Bryn Marshall, was a homemaker and his father, Thomas L. Marshall, a streetcar motorman.
By the time of the spring 1940 Census, young Thomas had completed two years of high school and was still enrolled.
He enlisted in the Navy on Jan. 29, 1941, and was a seaman second class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that Dec. 7.
His only brother, Harold, who was older by nearly seven years, enlisted in the Navy in 1935. He was on ARD-1, an auxiliary repair dock, that was assigned to Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack. He served in the Navy until June 1944 and died in 1949 at age 31.
