S1c Walton Aluard Erwin

Walton Aluard Erwin graduated from San Angelo High School in central Texas in 1940 and enlisted in the Navy that November.

He was a seaman first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.

Mr. Erwin was born June 27, 1921, in Nimrod, Texas about 115 miles northeast of San Angelo, the 6th-born child of Bertha Darden Erwin, a homemaker, and George R. Erwin, a farmer.

An older brother, Homan, served in the Army in World War II.
